The substrate must be sufficiently compacted and consist of mix-granules or water permeable sand (sand or washed sand syringe). The tiles should be used in stabilized bricklaying sand (sand: cement terrace / 5:1). This must be well mixed and moist. Processing of tiles with uneven thickness: Tap the tiles in with a pure rubber hammer along a string guideline to the correct height, Next, remove the tile, sprinkle a thin layer of cement underneath and put the tile back. (This is intended to bond the tiles to the substrate). • Joint width of sandstone tiles with beaten side + / - 1cm (advice) • Joint width of desert black tiles + / - 3-5mm (advice) • Joint width of tiles with cut sides + / - 3-5 (advice) Processing of travertin, marble, granite and stone: These tiles can be laid on a flattened sand bed (this may consist of stabilized sand or pure washed sand). After laying, the paving should be beaten with a rubber hammer. • Joint width off tumbled tiles: no joint and slush grout with silver sand. CAUTION! Travertin should always be used on a permeable surface. |
